Corn - Mr. Hu

I've been reading the great book, "The Omnivore's Dilemma," written by Michael Pollan. This work is mostly a response to learning about how corn has come to dominate the American agricultural landscape. It's really amazing how corn's privileged place in government legislation. makes it incredibly cheap, which feeds into the agribusinesses, which churn out so much cheap high-fructose-corn-syrup-infused food, which makes us Americans so delightfully plump.

I was thinking to myself the many different things I could've done with this particular piece. The first and most important thing that hit me was the idea that when people say they "eat vegetables", they mean they eat corn and potatoes.

That, well, doesn't really count.

So let's settle it once and for all, ya? Let's get ready to rumble!

Under further consideration, the corn's nickname should have been "Ears" and the potato's nickname should have been "Eyes".
